Sustainability and Fairtrade

We believe we can all make a difference.

Here at Say something sis, we are passionate about caring for our environment and people that live in it.

So we wanted to make sure that we connected with suppliers who were passionate about the same things as we are.

We choose Sustainable Printing

Vegetable Based Inks

Vegetable based inks are used in our offset printing and are the eco-friendlier alternative to petroleum based inks. Our soy and vegetable products are used in our inks for their oils, which act as the vehicle for the ink pigments.

Made from the extracts of corn, walnut, coconut, linseed, canola and soy bean, the oils and extracts are often blended in order to utilise the key characteristics of each oil for best printing results.

Vegetable based inks are a renewable resource and do not require harmful solvents/chemicals for cleaning the printing presses. Vegetable based inks are easier to de-ink as opposed to petroleum-based inks in the recycling process.

Soy and vegetable-based inks are widely recognized as the environmentally friendly choice. At Sustainable Printing Co, we also implement a recycle and reuse program in our factory that see’s 100% of all paper offcuts and printing plate either reused or recycled. This is another initiative our print staff drive to steer materials away from landfill and promote a circular business/economy where waste is reused and recycled. We also reuse unused inks for future jobs.

Sustainable Printing Co uses vegetable based inks for its offset printing.

We operate under what we call a ‘Lean-Green Manufacturing’ processes. This has involved us investing into modern, state of the art printing presses and finishing equipment that minimises waste and maximises efficiency.

  • 100% of all paper waste is recycled on a weekly basis
  • 100% of all printing plates are recycled
  • We use 100% recycled papers, some of which are manufactured carbon neutral
  • Digitally imaged printing plates are developed in our chemical free processor which uses only non-toxic processing fluids
  • Computerised press controls deliver accurate colour fast, minimising make ready waste and allowing us to tightly monitor quality and consistency throughout print runs
  • We invested in a new Heidelberg Anicolour printing press that saw a reduction in set-up paper wastage by 90%!
  • Dry toner digital print capabilities for short-run jobs allow us to print only the quantity needed
  • Computerised bindery equipment reduces waste and minimizes errors

We take genuine interest and care in reducing our printing’s environmental footprint.

We do all this while also working hard to offer cost effective printing.

To power our factory and printing presses, we utilise The GreenPower. This enables our business to displace our electricity usage with certified renewable energy, which is then added to the grid on our behalf.

Our usage of GreenPower contributes to the decrease in greenhouse gas emissions that are associated with traditional electricity generation. Our commitment to using GreenPower contributes to the investment in accredited, renewable energy generators which generate electricity from sources like wind, solar, water and bioenergy.

We believe this helps contribute to supporting renewable energy initiatives in Australia.

Because we utilise GreenPower, Sustainable Printing Co reduces our impact on the environment as the energy we purchase has no net greenhouse gas emissions

Printing on recycled paper has immense environmental benefits. When you print with us, you can take satisfaction in knowing that your business, invitation, book or card has been printed using 100% recycled papers, that in turn can be recycled again. Our house stock is manufactured carbon neutral and contains the highest possible percentages of recycled content and sustainably harvested papers, processed without the use of chlorine or chlorine derivatives (bleaching without chlorine or chlorine compounds results in a much less polluting paper making process).
